Effective 7 September 2026
Lumina is a personal development app. What you write in it is private, often deeply so. This page explains exactly what we store, why we store it, who else can see it, and how to delete all of it.
Lumina is operated by DKENT2000. For anything in this policy, contact us at info@luminacompass.app.
Everything below is information you give us by using the app. We do not buy data about you, and we do not collect anything in the background.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address and the name you choose to display | To create your account, sign you in, send verification codes, and send reminders you have asked for. |
| Your password | Handled entirely by Amazon Cognito and stored only as a cryptographic hash. We never see it and cannot recover it. |
| Time zone | So "today" means your today, and reminders arrive at the hour you chose rather than ours. |
| Your content framing preference (Christian or tradition-neutral) | To choose which prayers, reflections, and practices you are shown. |
| Your goals and the intentions you write for them | They are the core of the app. |
| Your routine: which practices, on which days, at what time, and which reminders you enabled | To show your daily checklist and send reminders. |
| Your practice history: what you completed, when, for how long, and any private note you attached | To show progress, and to calculate streaks, points, levels, and badges. |
No location data. No contacts, photos, calendar, or health data. No advertising identifiers. No third-party analytics or tracking pixels. No payment information, because the app is free. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Choosing the Christian content track, setting a goal about your relationship with God, or logging prayer all say something about your beliefs. Some laws, including the GDPR, treat that as a special category of personal data deserving extra care, and we agree.
We use it for exactly one purpose: selecting the content you see inside the app. We never use it for advertising, never share it, and never sell it. Choosing the tradition-neutral track means the app never asks about faith at all.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers. It reaches other companies only where they perform a service that makes the app work:
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to investigate fraud or abuse. If Lumina is ever sold or merged, we will tell you before your information moves to a new owner, and this policy will continue to apply until it is replaced.
Email reminders are sent only for practices where you switched them on, and you can switch them off per practice at any time. Reminders on your phone are scheduled by the app on the device itself, which means the reminder text never leaves your phone. You can revoke notification permission in your device settings without affecting the rest of the app.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we will tell you.
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, goals, routine, practice history, notes, and badges are removed from the live database immediately and permanently, and your sign-in credentials are deleted from Cognito. Encrypted database backups are kept for seven days on a rolling basis and then expire; we do not use them to restore individual deleted accounts.
Open Lumina, go to Settings (the icon at the top right of the Home screen), and choose Delete my account and data. You will be asked to confirm twice, because this cannot be undone. No email to us is required.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the information we hold about you, correct it, export it, restrict how it is used, or have it erased. You can correct your name, time zone, and content framing yourself in Settings, and you can erase everything yourself with the steps above. For a copy of your data or anything else, email info@luminacompass.app and we will respond within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.
Lumina is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Lumina is operated from the United States and your information is stored there. If you use the app from outside the United States, you are sending your information to the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those of your own country.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
